Wallingford fireworks 2026: Saturday 7 November, Kinecroft, 6pm, free, with £3 trains from Cholsey every 40 minutes. No Henley display is booked.
No firework display is booked in Henley-on-Thames for bonfire night 2026, and the display the town had for the last few years looks to be gone. Bonfire Night itself falls on Thursday 5 November 2026. If you want a bonfire and a display, the nearest in this district is Wallingford’s, on Saturday 7 November from 6pm.
Wallingford fireworks 2026 at a glance
- When: Saturday 7 November 2026, from 6pm. Wallingford Town Council’s calendar lists it; Wallingford 1155, which organises it, had not yet put the 2026 details on its own page when we checked on 1 October.
- Where: the Kinecroft, Wallingford, OX10 0DB.
- Cost: no ticket. The suggested donation has been £6 an adult and £3 a child, and the money goes to local charities.
- Getting there: the Cholsey and Wallingford Railway’s Fireworks Flyer, £3 return or £7 for a family of four, every 40 minutes through the afternoon and evening (times below). Otherwise park on the Hithercroft industrial estate, not on residential streets.
Here is the evidence for saying Henley has nothing, because the town’s absence from an events calendar is not proof on its own.
Why we say there is no Henley display
The Henley Spooktacular’s own website has gone. The display ran at Henley Rugby Club’s Dry Leas ground on the Halloween weekend and had a dedicated site at henleyspooktacular.co.uk. On 5 September 2026 that address returns a Wix “ConnectYourDomain” error, not a holding page and not a 2026 announcement.
Henley Rugby Club’s own events page lists one event, and it is not fireworks. The only thing on it is an Autumn Sporting Supper with Andy Powell and Andy Gomarsall in October, at £45 a head. (Henley Rugby Football Club)
The company that ran the Henley Showground display has published its 2026 diary, and Henley is not on it. Xplosive Events, which promoted Henley Bonfire and Fireworks at the Henley Showground on the Culden Faw estate, lists six displays for this autumn: Ardingly on 24 October, South Cerney on 31 October, Harborough on 4 November, Holdenby House on 5 November, Ducklington on 8 November and Abingdon on 14 November. None is in Henley. (Xplosive Events)
Neither council calendar has one. Henley Town Council’s events list runs from September 2026 to April 2027 with no fireworks in it, and the council’s annual town events page names the Literary Festival, the Royal Regatta, the Henley Festival, the Traditional Boat Rally and REWIND, and no bonfire night event at all. (Henley Town Council)
If a display is announced late, we will add it here.
What Henley does have: Terror on the Thames, Saturday 31 October
The town’s own Halloween event is a daytime one. Terror on the Thames is listed for Saturday 31 October 2026, 11am to 3pm, in Henley town centre, and it is free. That is the entry on Experience Henley’s calendar, and Experience Henley runs it. (Experience Henley calendar)
No programme is published for 2026 yet. The format, from Experience Henley’s page for the 2025 event, is trick or treating around shops that mark themselves with black and orange balloons, a donation station that swaps food bank donations for trick or treat bags, plus creepy trails, stocks, music and apple bobbing. (Experience Henley)
No bonfire, no fireworks, and it finishes before dark. Worth knowing before you promise anyone a display.
Wallingford: the district’s big one, Saturday 7 November
Wallingford 1155 runs the bonfire and fireworks on the Kinecroft, OX10 0DB, and it is free to attend. The charity asks for a suggested donation of £6 for an adult and £3 for a child, collected as you go in and as you leave, and the money goes to local causes.
Its own page still describes the 2025 event, which is the honest state of play in early September. That night ran like this, and the charity’s wording says the event is always “on the Saturday before or after November 5th”:
- 6pm: gates, then a medieval torchlit procession of Guys through the crowd
- about 6.30pm: the bonfire is lit, with pyrotechnic effects
- about 7pm: a lower-noise children’s display, then the main display
- about 8pm: finish
Update, 25 September: the 2026 date is confirmed as Saturday 7 November, on the Kinecroft from 6pm. Wallingford Town Council’s events calendar lists “Wallingford Bonfire and Fireworks, Saturday 7th November, Kine Croft, from 6pm”, with more details to follow (Wallingford Town Council). The Cholsey and Wallingford Railway is selling a “Fireworks Flyer” for “Wallingford’s fantastic fireworks display” on Saturday 7 November 2026, with its heritage Bubble Car running between Cholsey and Wallingford from 2.20pm to 10pm, at £3 return or £7 for a family of four (Cholsey and Wallingford Railway, The Fireworks Flyer). Wallingford 1155’s own page still showed the 2025 event when we checked, so the running order above is last year’s. The charity’s parking advice is worth following whichever it is: do not park on residential streets, use the Hithercroft industrial estate, or take the Cholsey and Wallingford Railway, which runs trains for the event.
The Fireworks Flyer timetable, Saturday 7 November
The railway has now published the full timetable. It runs its heritage Bubble Car between Cholsey and Wallingford, and one ticket lets you board at either end.
- From Wallingford: 14:20, 15:00, 15:40, 16:20, 17:00, 17:40, 18:20, 19:00, 19:40, 20:20, 21:00 and 21:40
- From Cholsey: 14:40, 15:20, 16:00, 16:40, 17:20, 18:00, 18:40, 19:20, 20:00, 20:40, 21:20 and 22:00
So the 17:20 or 18:00 from Cholsey gets you in for the 6pm start, and the last train back to Cholsey leaves Wallingford at 21:40, comfortably after the display has finished on last year’s timings. Fares are £3 return or £7 for a family of four. (Cholsey and Wallingford Railway, The Fireworks Flyer)
Wallingford sits at the other end of the district from Henley, so allow for the drive as well as the parking.
Thame: at the rugby club, not yet on sale
Thame’s display is a schools fundraiser staged at Chinnor Rugby Club, Kingsey Road, Thame OX9 3JL, and it sells its tickets through a box office at thameschoolsfireworks.littleboxoffice.com, which refused our request on 5 September.
The check that does work is the club’s own ticketing page. On 5 September it showed one upcoming event, a business lunch on 18 September, and no fireworks. On 1 October it read “No upcoming events”, so 2026 tickets are still not on sale and no date has been published. (Chinnor RFC events)
Didcot
Didcot’s fireworks site, didcotfireworks.co.uk, returns the same Wix “ConnectYourDomain” error as the Henley one when checked on 5 September, and Didcot Town Council’s website lists Christmas charity activities but no fireworks display. Treat any Didcot listing on a national aggregator as unconfirmed until an organiser publishes it.
If you are going anywhere
Whichever display you pick, check what else is shut that weekend on our Henley roadworks and travel page, and if you are driving into Henley itself first, our parking in Henley page has the three-hour caps and Sunday charges.
Frequently asked questions
When are the Wallingford fireworks in 2026?
Saturday 7 November 2026, on the Kinecroft from 6pm. Wallingford Town Council’s events calendar gives the date, and the Cholsey and Wallingford Railway is running its Fireworks Flyer trains the same day.
Do you need a ticket for Wallingford fireworks?
No. Entry is free, and Wallingford 1155 asks for a suggested donation, £6 an adult and £3 a child last year, collected on the way in and out.
Where do you park for Wallingford fireworks?
The organisers ask people not to park on residential streets. Use the Hithercroft industrial estate, or take the Fireworks Flyer from Cholsey, £3 return.
Is there a bonfire night display in Henley in 2026?
No Henley display has been announced. The Henley Spooktacular’s website is down and the promoter of the old Showground display has left Henley off its 2026 list. Henley’s own Halloween event, Terror on the Thames on 31 October, has no fireworks.
Every fact on this page was checked against the organisers’ and councils’ own pages on 5 September 2026, and the Wallingford date, train times and Henley checks again on 1 October 2026. Dates for Thame, Didcot and any late Henley display may still appear in October, and this page will be updated when they appear.
